How the Spelling Checker works
This spelling checker splits your text into words and compares each one with a dictionary that is built into the page: the 20,000 most frequent English words and the 6,000 most frequent German words. Unknown words are listed underneath with the surrounding sentence, and every flagged word gets up to five suggestions that are within one typo (a swapped letter, a missing letter, an extra letter or a wrong letter), ranked by how common the suggestion is. Click a suggestion to replace that exact occurrence in your text, or click Ignore to add the word to an ignore list for the rest of the session — useful for names, product names and technical terms. Language detection is automatic, or you can pin the check to English or German. Everything runs locally: your text is never uploaded, and no account is needed.
